Supplies you'll need to crochet Oddish

General supplies:

With Amigurumi you guage doesn’t matter much. Using smaller hook and yarn will make you finished Oddish smaller, and bigger hook and yarn will make him bigger. Just make sure that your yarn and hook fits together and makes a tight fabric so the stuffing won’t show through!

With recommended yarn and hook, Oddish will be about 15 cm tall, or 6 inches.

I reccomend Hobbii Rainbow cotton 8/4. This yarn is a 100% cotton and very nice to work with! With this yarn, I use a 2,5 mm hook (or a B-1 or C-2 should work too!). If Rainbow cotton is sold out, I can also recommend Friends cotton from Hobbii as a direct substitute.

  • 1 x blue (31)
  • 1 x Dark green (22)
  • 1 x dusty green (23)
  • A bit of magenta, white and black for eyes and mouth

Rnd 2: sc around (6)

Rnd 3: (2sc, inc) x 2 (8)

Rnd 5: (3sc, inc) x 2 (10)

Rnd 6: sc around (10)

Rnd 7: (4sc, inc) x 2 (12)

In the next round we will begin the colorwork. You will be changing between light green and dark green. To change color, finish your sc with the new color and continue as normal. Since there are very few stitches of each color, don’t cut the yarn each time. When you have finished the stitches in light green, change color to dark green without cutting the yarn of the light green, just letting it hang from the backside of the piece. When you need the light green again, simply pick up the yarn and start working with it.

To distinguish between the colors, light green will be written with normal format and dark green will be bold formatting

Rnd 8: (2sc, sc) x 4 (12)

Rnd 10: sc, 3sc, sc, 3sc, sc, 2sc, sc, 2sc (14)

Now the color changes are done. Cut the light green yarn and continue working with the dark green.

Assembly of your crochet Oddish

Start by attaching the leaves to the body. One leaf in the center, 2 leaves on either side pointing outwards (the leaves all the way to the left and right) and 2 leaves in the back that are placed between the other leaves.

Attach the eyes around the center of the body. Embroider a little smile on your Oddish as well.

Lastly assemble your feet if you haven’t already and attach them to the bottom of Oddish. Play around with the placement of the feet to make him stand on his own.

And now your Oddish is finished!
